04 JANUARY 2019: a new archive has been uploaded to the Lebanon Archive Index, focusing on the events that have undergone between 1600-1949 in Mount Lebanon between Emir Fakhreddine II and the Ottoman Empire.

INTRODUCING THE LEBANESE FOOD ARCHIVE INDEX

Lebanese Food Archive Index

04 DECEMBER 2018: a new section called the Lebanese Food Archive Index has just been added as part of launching Archive Food on Instagram. It is identical to the other archive indexes on this website such as the Beirut Archive Index, DAX and LAX. It will mostly contain recipes and food ideas by our food team constituting of food lovers and dietitians!

01 AUGUST 2018: the 1960-1969 archive has been uploaded and ready for reading. It is majorly focused on the political rifts during the 1960's and the cultural boom that took place during that time bringing a huge influx of money and international attention.

The archive also addresses the institutionalisation of various aspects of the Lebanese state, particularly those focused on promoting the Lebanese culture and the European studies of the Middle East.

01 JANUARY 2019: a new archive has been uploaded to the Lebanon Archive Index, focusing on the events that have undergone between 1550-1599 in Mount Lebanon between the rivalling dynasties of Mount Lebanon and the Ottoman Empire. There is some light shed upon the demographical changes that have happened within the Chouf and Keserwen regions along those in Tripol.

NEW SPECIAL ARCHIVE UPDATE

05 NOVEMBER 2018: a special archive written by Tom Young has been uploaded to the Beirut Archive Index. The special archive is dedicated to the Rose House’s history, based on Young’s personal research over this old mansion, which led to his exhibition taking place over there between 2014-2015.

THE GREEN UPDATE

25 JULY 2018: As of today, ARCHIVE LEBANON is 45% complete. The main functions of the website are almost complete. Their completion should come due during August.

THE ARTWORKS: The newest section of Archive Lebanon is the Artworks featuring some of the finest editing of Archive Lebanon's most exclusive and copyrighted images.

BEIRUT ARCHIVE INDEX is officially 50% complete! We have enhanced the theme of the index to make it more artistic and expanded the archive index now to fit another 20 years from the 21st century. In terms of NGOs and groups, we are still finding more NGOs that are willing to collaborate with Archive Lebanon, yet these groups can be found in the Lebanese Network section.

LEBANON ARCHIVE INDEX: has been re-uploaded with no index or archives yet. However the work on this index should begin in October 2018.

LEBANESE NETWORK: has also been changed and readjusted with a new theme fitting the previously posted collaborations!

SOCIAL MEDIA: on Instagram "archivelebanon and @foodrespite are our currently active pages, encompassing a combined 12,000 followers!

THE GALLERY: a thematic update has been done to the Gallery with a more updated theme!

NEW BEIRUT ARCHIVE UPDATE

02 DECEMBER 2017: the 1910-1919 archive has been uploaded and ready for reading. The archive looks at the turning points in Lebanon’s history between 1917 till 1920 when the nation changed from an Ottoman state into an independent Arab state and then was resubmverged into the French Colonial Empire.

Website Update Notification

20 AUGUST 2017: As of today, Archive Lebanon is nearly 20% complete. The main functions of the website are yet to be fully developed and will be available by late September.

In terms of the gallery and the respite, both sections are 80% complete with technical modifications being slightly overdue. We are still working on finding more NGOs and societies that strive along our our goals, however much of that has also been completed and could be further research in the Lebanese Network section.

Our only active page is the Respite page on Instagram @foodrespite, the page is currently hinged to more than 10,000 followers. We hope this thorough update is helpful. We wish you all the best today, and our prayers go to the Lebanese Army fighting in Ras Baalbek.

07 NOVEMBER 2017: the 1900-1909 archive has been uploaded and ready for reading. It sheds light on the first decade of the 20th Century, along the rise of Ras Beirut as the prominent hub of Beirut and Lebanon’s economy. The archive also sheds light on the Beiruti bourgeoisie, particularly those who dominated its municipality and governance such as the Yafis, Itannis, Daouks, Mneimnehs and the Beyhums.
