Tom Young’s art is pertained to sketching from “life, and often supported by photos, filter these experiences through memory in the studio.” Such art blends life into an image, specifically through the meshing of a diversity of methods. The combination of thick impasto oil and thin watercolour washes; along paint dripping, slashing and scarping creates a sense of movement and reality to his artwork. Young explores the dramatic contrasts in Beirut, a city of East and West, a diversity of religions and cultures; and most importantly, the coexistence of pain and joy.
“Art doesn't exist in isolation. Where religion and politics divide us, Art offers us a common ground and a peaceful path of expression.” Tom Young.
